The inside of the Guthrie incorporates the signature thrust stage theatre -- those who have been in both theaters (I've only been in the new one) tell me that its near identical to the old design. To come up with such a 'new' building but to incorporate the familiar is stunning. Ralph Rapson, the designer of the original trademark stage of the Guthrie theatre passed away very recently, and his work lives on within this building. The Star Tribune recently reprinted an article from the 90's detailing how Rapson worked with Guthrie to create the theatre design:

Also -- Gehry has a building nearby, the Weissman Art Museum, which is getting an expansion in the near future designed by Gehry himself.
