I second the welcome. I was just skimming the thread you linked to; I normally prefer KMail, but I may have to check out Thunderbird again, since it sounds like you guys have some very interesting plans for it.
P.S. I'd be interested to read your take on the iPhone you just purchased, if you should care to post anything about it.

Welcome to the west coast. If I see you on the street, I might yell "Are you that guy?"

Wow, that's an awesome, across the Americas' route!! Will you be visiting Mountain View?

Makes my future planned roadtrip down south to LA seem like a little nit. :|

In case you didn't find out yet, Vancouver has a lovely baseball stadium - Nat Bailey Stadium:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nat_Bailey_Stadium

the local university team (UBC Thunderbirds) play there in spring, and the Vancouver Canadians (short season single A affiliates of the Oakland As) play there over summer (starting next week, IIRC). It's a great place to go watch a game on a nice summer evening, and tickets are pretty cheap (I like to sit right down behind the catcher, for $12 or so).
