LWE GNOME Action

GNOME at Linux World Expo

I was only hoping in and out of the GNOME booth trying to help, but there were plenty of people on staff all day yesterday. I snagged a quick picture of some of the action.

GNOME at LWE

I didn’t go to Linux World today because I needed to get caught up on some work stuff, but I’ll be back tomorrow to hang out with Luis and everyone else.

Lots of Evince Progress

There have been some really great improvement to Evince lately, our presentation mode rocks now! Go check out Evince from jhbuild right now and try it in fullscreen. Go! Go!

Also we’ve started on the path of getting a common pdf rendering framework built into freedesktop.org so KDE and GNOME can stop duplicating their efforts of individually patching their copies of xpdf. We’re forking from the xpdf code, which is GPL, and starting the new project at freedesktop based off that.

I want to name the new xpdf project “Poppler” which I think is an awesome project name, but so far people have only responded to lame magnetic project names. See my mail here. So fire up your email right now and tell xdg how you think Poppler is the best name for this project instead of some stuffy libfdo-xpdf or something.

Add Network Place

Cleaning out bugs and other things today I’m trying to get things more organized on my laptop.

I’ve updated bug 139105 to reflect the new proposal for the connect to server dialog. The design is a rework based off most of the comments in the bugs and problems that cropped up with the different implementations of the dialog.

Some of the spacing is off and other things need to be reworded, blah blah blah. Here’s the initial dialog.
